Many people find decluttering their homes a chore, especially when the task takes a long time.
Many of us cannot find the time to declutter or do not know where to start.
Yet, we know that decluttering needs to be done at some point.
To make the decluttering process fuss-free, I have created the following detailed declutter checklist for you to follow.
This declutter checklist consists of 105 items to get rid of, grouped according to the different rooms in your home so that you can easily navigate through them.
Before You Start Your Decluttering Process
1. Think about which part of your home you want to start to declutter.
It is always good to declutter room by room, area by area.
Choose a room that you feel like decluttering first.
For me, I would always declutter the main entrance of my house first.
If you see an organized area the moment you enter your house, you will most likely feel comforted and good to be back home.
After all, home is where the heart is.
2. Decide on the area of the room where you want to declutter.
For example, if you have chosen to declutter the items in your bedroom, you can decide whether to declutter your closet or your table drawers first.
After decluttering the chosen area, you only move on to the next area.
3. Briefly consider the number of pieces you want to keep for each item.
We often have many pieces of every item we own, which has become a norm.
This is perfectly fine as long as you keep track of what you have and use them.
Nevertheless, consider the number of pieces you want to keep for each item.
For example, if only two members are in your household, how many towels would you need?
Would you have guests coming over for a stayover frequently?
If yes, how many towels should you keep sufficient for all?
4. Evaluate the conditions and usage period of the items you want to keep.
Many people keep many pieces of the same item, especially if they are new in their original packaging.
An important point to note is to check the item’s expiry date.
If the expiry date of the items is nearing, use them first or consider decluttering them.
